Welcome all, to one of the main reasons that the Victorian Cross Campus Women's Network Forum exists! The idea of 'Reclaiming Feminism' is pretty self-explanatory. At its basis, this forum is for the serious discussion of all the aspects of feminism and how it remains of vital importance today. It is also to help free the words 'Feminism' and 'Feminist' of all the negative connotations that people afraid of change have encouraged, and reclaim them for what they are. Before we jump straight into it, however, there are a few things to keep in mind. Views of feminism are incredibly, incredibly diverse, and we want to create a safe environment for all of them here. That means that this forum is for debate and discussion, NOT for personal attacks or opinion grandstanding. It's true that a lot of issues Feminism encompasses are open to interpretation, and that many perspectives clash. Please keep it civil and respectful, and remember that everyone has a right to their own beliefs and opinions. At the same time, there is a limit to free speech on this board, and that is where it conflicts directly with somebody else's safety. Thus, any racism, sexism, queerphobia, or any other hate-related behavior will be considered unacceptable and will be dealt with by staff members. All the general forum rules, guidelines and procedures (found here) also still apply. So really, it boils down to common sense, people! Enjoy the debates and discussion here, I look forwards to seeing them!
