Hello all!
The NUS [National Union of Students] Women's Officer, Keelia
Fitzpatrick has, with assistance from a number of Women's Officers
around Australia, put together this anonymous online survey about
women's safetey on campus/as students, which can be found online
at www.unistudent.com.au/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=307:talk-about-it-womens-safety-survey&catid=34:women-students&Itemid=56
Knowledge being power, this survey will give invaluable information
on such things as specific locations on campus that are dangerous,
intimidating - or both - as well as how any incidents impact on study
and life in general.
Keelia has opened this survey to those who are 'female-indentifying'. I
usually use the phrase 'female-identifying/bodied/socialised', and I
wish to be clear that this survey is also open to intersex and
transexual people.
I also would like to warn, whilst we have sought to use neutral
language, the nature of the subject matter may be triggering. There
are people you can talk to! As this survey is Australia-wide, the
help and infolines given are also national. If you feel in any way
uncomfortable or troubled by anything in this survey, know that there
are people you can talk to in Victoria. A general list of FREE
mental health positive helplines, infolines, crisis lines and free
face-to-face councellors in Victoria can be found at
msawomensdepartment.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mentalhealth&action=display&thread=145.
For cases of sexual violence, CASA/SECASA are extremely good; their infomation is in the abovemention list also.
For those who are students at Monash Clayton, there is always your
Women's Officers - Erica Chan and Emily Kate Cowan (me). Our office
is on the First Floor of Campus Centre, to the right of the MSA
Reception. You can also call or email.
All that is left to be said is... please, Talk About It at www.unistudent.com.au/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=307:talk-about-it-womens-safety-survey&catid=34:women-students&Itemid=56[/b]
