Stop the Sex Trafficking of Children & Young People
Children and young people are abused, beaten, raped, and repeatedly sold into prostitution against their will. Human trafficking is the third largest organised crime in the world after illegal drugs and weapons. Over 2.5 million people are trafficked in the world each year, and 1.2 million are under the age of 18. And Australians are responsible for feeding demand by accessing child pornography or travelling overseas to sexually abuse a child.
What can you do about it? - Sign the petition at The Body Shop Website to encourage the Australian Government to fund programs to stop the demand and supply of child trafficking for sexual exploitation in our region.
- Be a Child Wise Traveller - If you see or suspect child sexual abuse in your travels overseas, in Australia or online - please report it. To report suspicions or concerns contact Child Wise on 1800 813 784.
- Tell friends travelling to notorious child sex tourism destination countries to be alert and report any suspicious behaviour!
- Support Child Wise - Australia's leading child protection charity working in Australia, Asia and the PAcific to prevent child abuse. (www.childwise.net).
