From the MSA Environment Department emailing list:
"Sustainable women's sanitary protection information sessions
Menstrual cups and reusable pads are both more environmentally friendly and much cheaper in the long run than disposable pads and tampons. The MSA Women's department are running weekly information sessions about alternative forms of sanitary protection for women.
The sessions will be very informal, and will give women the opportunity to discuss their own feelings about different forms of sanitary protection and share their experiences. They are suited to women who have never heard of alternatives to pads and tampons, as well as to women who are experienced users of menstrual cups and reusable pads.
They will be running in the Women's Room (upstairs campus centre) on Thursdays from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. More information can be found at msawomensdepartment.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=info&action=display&thread=161"
Sounds great. There was just one thing I wanted to briefly point out...
what about those ('pre-op') trans men who identify as male, but who still need to use menstrual gear (sorry I am squeamish) every month? For the sake of including everyone who needs that material and who might be interested in being environmentally friendly at the same time, mightn't it be a good idea to hold the event somewhere other than the women's lounge? After all, we can't go in there.
Although I understand if women feel uncomfortable having men present while discussing such issues. Maybe there could be a session in the women's lounge and another one in the queer lounge, or elsewhere.
Something to think about.
