Recently I have looked into where support can be found specifically for intersex people, so after having contacted O.I.I. and A.I.S. I thought I'd share what I've found out.
Recommendations from Organisation Intersex International Australia Ltd [O.I.I.]
as well as Androgen Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group Australia Inc [A.I.S.]
O.I.I. Australia can be found online - oiiaustralia.com/ - and contacted by email at oiiaustralia@bigpond.com or phone on 0418-290-336. O.I.I. Australia also have a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/oii.australia
A.I.S. can be found online - home.vicnet.net.au/~aissg/news.htm - and are contactable by email at aissgaustralia@gmail.com.
Vikki Sinnot (Counsellor) - 0417 365 960
Dr Trudi Kennedy – 9556 5216 (Note: Tony Briffa of A.I.S. was unsure as to whether or not sure if she’s still practicing.)
Linda Midalia (Psychologist) - 9826 5452
Tony Briffa also informed me that it is his understanding that Dr Fintan Harte (a psychiatrist - his number is 9256 8333) sees people with intersex conditions but he had not spoken with anyone that has seen him.
According to O.I.I., Professor Louise Newman of Monash Medical Centre has some experience with sex and gender differences and although Louise may not be able to offer support herself she may be able to direct you to a suitable family councilor. Details:
Professor Louise Newman:
Monash University Centre for Developmental Psychiatry & Psychology
Director Prof Louise Newman 03 9594 1354
Louise.Newman@med.monash.edu.au
I was also told of a writer in Melbourne also at Monash named Annett Bromdal who likewise might be aware of local resources. O.I.I. told me Annett can be contacted at nettan_bromdal@hotmail.com to see a write up of her book Intersex: A Challenge for Human Rights and Citizenship Rights, click to www.tower.com/intersex-challenge-for-human-rights-citizenship-annette-bromdal-paperback/wapi/112407293

Notes on Switchboard
Switchboard can be found online - www.switchboard.org.au/ - and are contactable by email at admin@switchboard.org.au or office phone number 9633-2474.
Please note that Switchboard’s counseling line is different (in Melbourne, 9663-2939 and in regional Victoria and Tasmania 1800-184-527) and their phone line hours are currently 6pm-10pm Monday to Thursday, 2pm-10pm Wednesdays and 6pm-9pm Friday to Sunday.
At the time I first approached them for recommendations, I had a pamphlet of theirs stating that they cater for GLBTI [gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, intersex]; however, since my contact with them I have the new leaflets, with both their new number and the info that they cater for GLBT [gay, lesbian, bi, transgender].
I hope that this is of some help!
Please note that these are not my recommendations but suggestions from those who I've contacted.
